High latitude and Arctic SSS

Arctic SMOS SSS maps V3.0

SSS maps in high latitude ocean areas and Arctic Ocean are computed at BEC using a new methodological approach to cope with land and RFI contamination.

This new improved SMOS Sea Surface Salinity product specific for the Arctic region has been created under the financed project from ESA ITT AO/1-9158/18/I-BG called Arctic+Salinity.

One of the main advantage of this new product v3.0 with respect the previous BEC Arctic (v2.0 product) is the spatial resolution that has been greatly improved, permitting to better monitor the circulation, the meso-scales structures and the river discharge.

The old version of the Arctic SSS product are stored at BEC facilities, you could request it if you need it.
